2022 Aston Martin DB11: AMG V8 gains in power, the name V12 AMR is dropped

The five-year-old DB11 GT car has benefited from a selection of updates, as part of a larger and revised range of Aston Martin MY22.
the 2022 Aston Martin DB11 received a series of updates for the new model year.
Driving updates to Aston Martin’s mid-size grand tourer is a power boost for the Mercedes-AMG developed by the “entry-level” DB11 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, from 375kW to 393kW – corresponding to the special edition Vantage F1 Edition revealed earlier this year.
No details on torque outputs or 0-100 km / h times were provided, although the top speed increased from 301 km / h to 309 km / h.
Meanwhile, the “AMR” badge has been removed from the top-of-the-line V12 model – with the variant now simply known as the “V12 Coupé” – although the 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 engine with 470 kW / 700 Nm and the sport suspension of the outgoing halo were retained after the transition.
New âSports Plusâ seats can also be offered as an option on the DB11, claiming to âadd extra shoulder, thorax and leg support for the driver and passengerâ compared to standard seats.
Elsewhere in the Aston Martin lineup, the 1,800kg grand tourer flagship DBS has removed âSuperleggeraâ from its name, reverting to the three-letter âDBSâ nameplate previously seen on 2007-2012 and 1967- vehicles. 1972.
Other highlights for the 2022 model year include new 21-inch wheel designs for the Vantage and DBS, as well as a selection of additions for the DBX SUV, including 23-inch alloy wheels, new Sports Plus seats and a wireless smartphone charger.
The updates coincide with the introduction of a new online configurator for the Aston Martin brand, based on the Unreal graphics engine from Epic Games, as seen in video games from the treasure hunt Assetto Corsa Competizione to the game Fortnite ‘battle royale’.
The new configurator includes a “new series of interior trim environments” – named Create, Accelerate and Inspire – which offer unique upholstery, inlays and color choices intended for “[showcase] a different design character to suit the customer’s individual taste “.
