’22 Nissan Frontier is comfortable and affordable – Saratogian

Already seen!
I hate a history lesson when it comes to automobiles, but this one demands it. It’s 2000 and I need a small SUV or pickup truck to haul golf clubs, various honey list items, etc. So I bought a used 2000 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab with four-wheel drive. It was white with a beige interior and did just the job for the short-term need for a small pickup. When I went to sell it, I got the same amount on an exchange as I paid for it, which is normal these days, but back then it was unheard of.
As thrilled as one might expect, I still have a soft spot for the Frontier. Well, well, 22 years later, Grasso’s Garage has another one to enjoy. This time a Frontier PRO-4X.
Wrapped in beautiful Deep Blue Pearl with orange and black accents, our Frontier tester was a dream to drive as the fleet-surviving little pickup is clearly a hit in Nissan’s lineup. It develops 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft. of torque from the 3.8-liter V6 engine, which is aligned with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Paired well, the Frontier was quick on its feet with no lag while still getting reasonably accommodating fuel mileage.
It has a spacious interior with well-designed and comfortable seats, and a familiar 9-inch color touchscreen infotainment system with SiriusXM radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Fender Premium audio with a 10-speaker upgrade was a nice addition to the Pro Premium package, which also includes beadlock-style wheels, leather seats, dimming mirror and sunroof.
Additionally, our PRO-4X tester came with a range of really interesting package upgrades. Off-road running boards, bed access step, pro amenities package including heated front seats, steering wheel and side mirrors, LED under-light lighting, remote start, trailer hitch and zero-speed charging wire, all for a total of $3,280.
All in all, the Frontier has been around for a long time, with various model refreshes, endless package options and great exterior views for consumers to enjoy. More importantly, for a bargain price, the Frontier is a good consumer option, as values have always remained strong in the small pickup market. As a true fan of the blue exterior color, the Frontier really did it for me. Its ground clearance was nice, it looked terrific, and it rode extremely well unlike the competition and their historically stiff ride chassis.
