764-foot ship carrying giant crane passes under Golden Gate Bridge
A huge ship carrying a giant new crane to the Port of Oakland made narrow passages under the Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay Bridge this morning and is heading towards the Ben E. Nutter Terminal.
China’s Zhen Hua 26 is 764 feet long, just a little shorter than San Francisco’s iconic Transamerica Pyramid. The crane stands over 300 feet high on the ship, and the crew prepared to allow the crane to pass under decks on its final stop from China.
The ship passed under the Golden Gate Bridge around 6 a.m. with over 10 feet of headroom, then headed under the Bay Bridge with only 5-10 feet of headroom.
Anyone who saw him pass under one of the bridges witnessed a dramatic spectacle.

The Zhen Hua 26 transported a new giant crane to the Port of Oakland on June 24, 2021.

Once the crane is fully assembled in operation, it will be able to lift cargo up to 170 feet.
This is the fourth largest crane the Port of Oakland received in 2021. It was purchased by Everport Terminal Services.
