Bombers drop into Acadiana during Road Trip opening

The Bombers have struggled to find consistent, well-placed strikes recently, extending into Friday’s game.
BRYAN, Texas – The Brazos Valley Bombers took to the field Friday night to start a series of road weekends against the Acadiana Cane Cutters, ultimately losing 1-0 in a powerful pitching showdown.
Right-hander Andrew Hill started off the mound for the Bombers to kick off the game. Hill had four solid innings, the only flaw being a home run to Acadiana’s left field in the first inning. Isaac Crabb replaced Hill in the fifth inning, starting a scoreless four-innings streak with the bullpen.
The Cane Cutters held off the Bombers for most of the game, although Brazos Valley had their best scoring chance early in the sixth inning when Drew Collins and Grayson Tatrow moved into scoring position with just one out. The Bombers’ striking struggles continued and left Tatrow and Collins stranded, ending the threat.
On a positive note, the Bombers have bolstered their pitching resumes throughout the season. That continuity is ultimately what kept the team in the game, based on a solid performance from Tyler Miller.
âMiller came in and got two big punches with the bases loaded,â Bombers pitching coach JM Kelly said.

âDominant throws and timely hitting wins games, and we just couldn’t get the timely hitting,â Kelly said. âThat’s why getting a hit is the hardest thing to do in any sport. ”
The Bombers continue their longest road trip of the season on Saturday June 11 to end the series against the Acadiana Cane Cutters. The Bombers return home to Edible Field on June 18 to face the San Antonio Flying Chanclas. With the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 pm, fans can look forward to an evening of fun and entertainment.
