VALCOURT, QC, June 1, 2022 /CNW/ – Today, BRP Inc. (TSX: DOO) (NASDAQ: DOOO) reinforced its commitment to being the industry leader in corporate citizenship by announcing a community engagement program titled “Ride Out Bullying”. The Society partners with credible experts and organizations to raise awareness and implement meaningful initiatives globally.

BRP seeks to rally its vast network around this universal cause that affects countless children and adults. The Society will focus its efforts and deploy projects targeting youth in schools, adults in the workplace and marginalized communities.

“We choose to take a stand against bullying, a widespread social challenge that unfortunately still affects too many people, everywhere and in different ways,” said José Boisjoli, President and CEO of BRP. “We want to do our part so that children can grow up in an environment that encourages development and learning, and that workplaces and communities are free from bullying. We invite all of our employees, dealers, suppliers and riders enthusiasts, as well as their friends and family, to join our movement.”

First, BRP is partnering with three renowned organizations that are experts in the fight against bullying: Born this Way Foundation, Ditch the Label and the Jasmin Roy Sophie Desmarais Foundation.

The Born This Way Foundation is focused on building a kinder, braver world by making kindness cool, validating young people’s emotions, and eliminating the stigma around mental health. Their global kindness campaign, #BeKind21, has engaged over 7 million people. With BRP’s support, the organization will expand its impact and inspire even more people to be kind 365 days a year.

“We are proud to work with and for young people to create welcoming, affirming, respectful and caring spaces,” said Maya Enista Smith, Executive Director of the Born This Way Foundation. “We are grateful to BRP and its Ride Out Bullying initiative for supporting our work and contributing to a kinder, braver world.”

Ditch the Label focuses on supporting youth and young adults. Over the past 2 years, the organization has managed to reach over 3.4 million people between the ages of 12 and 25 with digital support tools. Currently, Ditch the Label reaches young people in the United States, Canada, Australia and Europe. With the contribution of BRP, programs and presence will be extended to new regions.

“We are delighted to partner with BRP as part of their global anti-bullying and harassment initiatives,” said Liam Hackett, Founder and CEO of Ditch the Label. “As a nonprofit, we recognize the power of partnering with brand partners who are just as passionate about social impact as we are. With the support of BRP, we will be able to reach even more people and have a significant impact in new communities. “

Originally created in Canada in 2010, the Jasmin Roy Sophie Desmarais Foundation is recognized as a pioneer in anti-bullying awareness and an expert in the field for initiatives, workshops and content specific to bullying.

“In recent years, we have witnessed an unprecedented mobilization to prevent and counter bullying and violence, in particular by promoting more positive and caring environments. Although our efforts bear fruit, we must continue to instil respect, civility and the acceptance of difference. BRP’s support will allow the Foundation to continue to fight bullying and raise awareness of its programs around the world,” said Jasmine RoyPresident of the Jasmin Roy Sophie Desmarais Foundation.

Recognizing the major role employers can play in influencing workplace culture, BRP will lead by example by implementing a Zero Bullying approach and addressing bullying in its Code of Ethics to be released this fall. BRP will benefit from the expertise of the Jasmin Roy Sophie Desmarais Foundation to create its first training program to raise awareness and educate its workforce to see the signs and deal with behaviors that might seem intimidating.

As part of its overall approach Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR25) program, BRP has pledged to invest 1% of its pre-tax profits in local and global causes by 2025. Charitable organizations are encouraged to submit their Ride Out Bullying-related projects through the BRP website.
