DORTON, Ky. (WYMT) – Aiden Tackett made one final ride through the community of Dorton on Tuesday, joined by a crowd of neighbors and relatives who wanted to send him the only way he wanted: roaring engines .
The 13-year-old passed away on Thursday, leaving behind a legacy of love and smiles.
âWe are small, we are very united. We’ve always been like family here, so it’s almost like losing a member of your own family, âsaid Dorton Asst. Director Rhonda Jerrell. ” It’s a tragedy. Especially for schools the size of ours.
The defeat, according to Jarrell, extends beyond the classroom and the ball field where Tackett played.
âIt’s going to be really different to see him not there. It’s not the same, âsaid teammate Brayden Chaffin.
With blue ribbons and American flags dotted around the small town, Aidyn’s coffin was lifted from the back of a truck and made one last trip through the streets.
âHe was known to so many people in our community and they definitely came and showed their support today,â Jarrell said.
His relatives said it was a celebration of the full speed life he always lived as they followed him to the cemetery and continued to make a bit of noise with a mess of engines near his grave.
With over 50 ATVs and just as many vehicles, the procession extended from Dorton School where the funeral was held at Precious Memories Cemetery on Blaze Branch. A hike Aidyn often took, leaving those involved to say they were honored to be part of her last hike.
