In keeping with the tradition of a charity being specified each year so they can support it, for 2022 Croft Circuit have announced their chosen charity as Race Against Dementia.

Founded by three-time Formula 1 world champion Sir Jackie Stewart OBE, it raises and allocates funds to accelerate global research and development in the race to find a prevention or cure for dementia.

For Sir Jackie, the love of his life, his wife Helen, who had a razor-sharp mind that timed her laps to the millisecond with pinpoint accuracy, lives with this devastating disease.

In 2014, Helen Stewart was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia. Today, Lady Stewart’s short-term memory is fading and dementia grips her mind and body. This terrible disease devastates the Stewart family, as it does millions of families with dementia around the world.

Race Against Dementia aims to raise funds to fund innovative and groundbreaking dementia research. Their vision is to contribute to a breakthrough in the prevention or treatment of dementia with the utmost urgency.

“I am so grateful that the Croft Circuit team chose Race Against Dementia as their charity for this year. Myself and the Stewart family have fond memories of attending Croft with Paul Stewart Racing and I am truly grateful. for their support in joining us in overcoming dementia,” commented Sir Jackie Stewart OBE

50 million people worldwide suffer from dementia and unless a cure is found, one in three people born today will die of dementia and one new person will develop dementia every three seconds.

Croft Circuit Director Tracey Morley is very privileged to support a charity close to her heart: “As a family we have also suffered first hand, as we watched my father’s condition deteriorate with this disease, we sadly lost him in 2020. I think there is a great connection here for Croft Circuit to support such a worthwhile charity.”
