Forward Rachel Daly is set to return to the international stage after being called up to the England women’s national team’s training camp in February. The Football Federation announced the news on Tuesday.
The Harrogate, North Yorkshire native will join the team on February 18 ahead of the Lionesses’ game against Northern Ireland scheduled for February 23.
Daly, the sixth overall pick in the 2016 NWSL College Draft, was loaned out to West Ham United FC from September 3 to January 11. She has scored five goals and had four assists in 12 appearances for West Ham.
Prior to loan, Daly was a team captain for Dash’s 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup Championship team. The Dash won the tournament with a 2-0 victory over the Chicago Red Stars, and Daly won the Golden Boot and was named the tournament MVP.
Daly has represented England competing at the U-15, U-17, U-19 and U-23 levels. She won her first senior selection in June 2016 and has scored 35 in total, while also scoring three goals. She was a member of the England squad in the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup semi-finals, appearing in five of the seven matches.
