Dash’s Rachel Daly joins England national team camp

Forward Rachel Daly has represented England competing at the U-15, U-17, U-19 and U-23 levels. She is expected to join the national team later this month.

Forward Rachel Daly is set to return to the international stage after being called up to the England women’s national team’s training camp in February. The Football Federation announced the news on Tuesday.

The Harrogate, North Yorkshire native will join the team on February 18 ahead of the Lionesses’ game against Northern Ireland scheduled for February 23.

Daly, the sixth overall pick in the 2016 NWSL College Draft, was loaned out to West Ham United FC from September 3 to January 11. She has scored five goals and had four assists in 12 appearances for West Ham.

Prior to loan, Daly was a team captain for Dash’s 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup Championship team. The Dash won the tournament with a 2-0 victory over the Chicago Red Stars, and Daly won the Golden Boot and was named the tournament MVP.

Daly has represented England competing at the U-15, U-17, U-19 and U-23 levels. She won her first senior selection in June 2016 and has scored 35 in total, while also scoring three goals. She was a member of the England squad in the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup semi-finals, appearing in five of the seven matches.

Ryan Herrera is a sports intern at the Houston Chronicle for the spring of 2021. He is from Elk Grove Village, Ill., And is a recent graduate of the University of Missouri from both the School of Journalism and the College of Education. . Ryan was previously the Mizzou beat writer for Rock M Nation, where he covered Mizzou football, men’s basketball and baseball. He also worked both as an assistant sports editor and high school sports reporter for the Columbia Missourian, and he interned at the Columbia Daily Tribune in the summer of 2018.

Ryan was accepted into the Sports Journalism Institute, where he was a Fellow of the Class of 2020 and will also be a Fellow of the next Class of 2021. In the fall of 2020, Ryan spent four months teaching English and Journalism at Rolling Meadows. High School (Illinois) as a student teacher, graduating in English Secondary Education.
