Dave Morgan, loved family, barber
Hairdresser Dave Morgan has left Dave’s Clip Joint at the corner of Old Landing Road and Mitchell Street in Millsboro to settle in trimming the Lord’s beard as the angels gather for a ride on the chair. Dave passed away on Sunday September 26, peacefully at home with his wife Thelma Louise (Lou) nearby. Born December 26, 1939, Dave was the youngest child of Carl and Leona Morgan, and was predeceased by his youngest daughter Lori Morgan.
He is survived by his 51 year old wife, Lou; two daughters, Wendy Hitch and Jeannie Heck; 11 grandchildren, Bryan Marvel, Wayne Morgan, Joshua Lee, Jesse Lee, Lauren Champlin, Michael Hitch, Charity Truitt, Ethan Truitt, Paden Truitt, Wyatt Truitt and Branden Morgan; as well as eight great-grandchildren.
Writing an obituary for Dave Morgan is difficult; as a senior professor of the Institute of Liars, it is not clear where the truth ends and where the stories begin in the stories of this man’s life. Could his father do one-handed pull-ups from the rafters in the barn? Did he teach his horse to drink beer from long-necked bottles with him? Was there really a man with an ingrown hair 6 meters down his neck? We may never know. What we do know for sure is that he loved his family, dancing and the barber. Most of the time, we knew he made the world happier with him. No man was more capable of providing laughter and love than Dave Morgan.
Dave’s final reminder will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5 at Watson’s Funeral Home for viewing and touring. A private funeral service and interment will be held at Millsboro Cemetery. It’s our turn as Dave’s beloved George to tell the stories.
In lieu of flowers, donations are accepted for the final arrangement fee.
