Delayed iRacing 2022 S2 Patch 3 May Bring Netcode Improvements

Now that it’s out, there’s not much to see here. Hopefully the biggest fixes include the netcode issues that have surfaced over the past few weeks. In the original version of the 2022 version of season 2, it would have been improved on the netcode problems which plate the SIM card.
However, many of the usual issues were still present, and a new glitch some fans called a netcode boost turned a simple bumpdraft into a massive speed increase for one and a decrease for the other, often resulting in massive incidents. This one, or the one where cars are sent into orbit with a simple tap during an incident.

In general, netcode crashes still happen even when the cars don’t get close, and that’s a big deal when many series promote wheel-to-wheel action and can’t produce it. Hopefully this patch fixes some of that, but it will be up to the community to test the netcode limitations as usual.
Other fixes in the patch include general iRacing UI updates, as well as car and track updates. One that I will be keeping an eye out for is the “Drag Response Drafting” update for NASCAR NEXT Gen vehicles.
Check out the full patch notes below, courtesy of the iRacing forums and support site. Is there something below that you’re most excited to see in action? Let us know in the comments below.
