Dodgers continue road trip with overtime win over Rockies

Julio Urias and Antonio Senzatela each shot three perfect innings before a prototype game at Coors Field erupted and the Los Angeles Dodgers outlived the Colorado Rockies for a 5-4 victory in 10 innings.
After soft chopper Trea Turner had a single in the infield early in the fourth, the Rockies collected their own first scorer against Julio Urias similarly in the bottom half of the inning.
This ultimately led to a run as Charlie Blackmon’s double RBI shattered the scoreless tie. CJ Cron then followed that up with an extra hit to put the Dodgers in a 2-0 deficit.
Senzatela struck out the first two hitters on catches in the fifth inning, Gavin Lux started a rally by driving a single the other way around to beat the quarterback. Luke Raley, recalled Tuesday with Cody Bellinger on the 10-day injured list, also kept the inning alive with a hit.
Urias then helped his cause with a single RBI that cut the Dodgers’ lead in half. This was followed by Mookie Betts easily beating a high helicopter to drive into the tying point from third base before Senzatela could come out of the inning.
LA took the lead on the brace from Max Muncy who scored Turner from first goal to sixth, and added it behind Will Smith’s sacrifice volley.
Urias was unable to keep the lead as the Rockies mounted another two-strikeout rally late in the sixth inning to balance themselves out. Urias has only allowed four points for the second time in his last 15 starts, with the previous instance also taking place at Coors Field on July 16.
Urias and Senzatela both played six innings and allowed four runs on seven hits.
Blake Treinen inherited a loaded basics jam from Joe Kelly with two strikeouts in the eighth and completed 1.1 scoreless innings. Kenley Jansen followed that up by working around a starting walk and wild pitch in the ninth to send the game into extra innings.
Albert Pujols gave the Dodgers a 10th lead over his RBI single for sure, and Brusdar Graterol and Alex Vesia combined to finish the game in the lower half of the inning. The stop was the first of his Vesia career.
Dodgers potentially catch Giants
As the Dodgers wrapped up their victory at Coors Field, the San Francisco Giants trailed the San Diego Padres in the fifth inning. A loss for the Giants would see the Dodgers tied for first place in the National League West.
