End of Watch Ride honors fallen law enforcement officers in Shelby County – FOX13 News Memphis

SHELBY COUNTY, Tennessee – “Beyond the Call of Duty – End of Duty Tour to Remember” travels to Shelby County on Tuesday to honor deceased correctional officers and a Memphis police officer.
The ride begins at 8 a.m. at the SCSO Training Academy, 993 Dovecrest Rd. In Memphis, according to a statement from End of Watch Ride.
Tuesday’s ride will honor Jeremy Smith, SCSO Corrections Assistant and Captain Anthony Jackson, as well as MPD Officer Bobby Montgomery.
During the 84 days between May 28 and August 19, 6 runners will travel more than 22,000 miles across the country, visiting towns and police departments to honor the men and women of law enforcement who made it happen. the ultimate sacrifice, according to the statement.
The Ride also honors the families of agents and other agents left behind.
End of Watch Ride to Remember are a Washington biker group, the statement said.
An end of surveillance call or final radio call is a ceremony in which a police dispatcher makes a final call to a deceased officer over the radio, followed by silence. All officers in this department hear the call and observe silence, remembering their deceased brother or sister.
This year, the organization pays tribute to 338 agents who lost their lives in 2020 in the service of their community.
Last year, the End of Watch Ride honored 146 fallen officers, the statement said.
