George pelecanos books, movies and TV series have won awards and fans around the world. Stephen King has dubbed him “perhaps the greatest living American writer”.

But Pelecanos is about as DC as they come, putting almost all of its 21 novels in his native Washington, and inspiring Esquire magazine to call him “the poet laureate of the DC crime world”.
