Honeycutt Dominates for CARS Tour’s First Triumph
Kaden Honeycutt won his feature debut CARS Late Model Stock Tour on Saturday at Langley Speedway.
HAMPTON, Virginia – After losing his first win two weeks ago, Texas native and CARS Late Model Stock Car Tour rookie Kaden Honeycutt dominated the VisitHampton.com 125 at Langley Speedway on Saturday for his first series victory.
After starting second behind car owner and teammate Justin Johnson, Honeycutt took the lead from the outside pole and never looked back, leading every lap along the way. The victory marked the first time a Texas native has won a CARS Late Model Stock Car Tour race.
Although he challenged his student on several occasions, car owner and teammate Johnson was second, around 2.422 seconds. Just behind Johnson was his fellow veteran Deac McCaskill in third. Layne Riggs was fourth, while defending champion Jared Fryar was fifth.
Championship leader Bobby McCarty struggled through the night, finishing 17th on two laps. He entered the night with a 15-point lead over McCaskill. Johnson started the day third in the standings, 20 points behind McCarty.
The race was broadcast live by Pit Row TV, a subsidiary of SPEED SPORT TV.
