Hope for California Schools – WSJ
Since California became a one-party state, one of the governor’s primary responsibilities has been to protect its citizens from extremist legislation that passes through the Democratic-qualified majority legislature. Former Gov. Jerry Brown has played that role at times, and Gov. Gavin Newsom did the same on Wednesday by vetoing an anti-US K-12 program mandate.
The bill, known as AB 331, already done a one-semester course in “ethnic studies”, a requirement for graduation from public schools in the state. The history of ethnic groups in America is rich and fascinating, but the model curriculum designed by the State Board of Education only addresses this history tangentially. Instead, it’s an overtly political document that defends racial identity politics, induces American belief, and orders students to join modern left-wing militant movements.
