Hugo Nerman and Andreas Bäckman bounce off the poles of Anderstorp
Hugo Nerman and Andreas Bäckman took pole position each in qualifying for the penultimate STCC TCR Scandinavia round of 2022 at Anderstorp.
Brink Motorsport driver Nerman rebounded from a hard crash in the final practice session, beating Bäckman by just 44 thousand seconds.
Points leader Robert Dahlgren was third fastest, just 0.062 seconds off pole position in Race 1.
Exion Racing driver Calle Bergman impressed with his best STCC qualifying result to date in fourth, just under three-tenths off pole.
Nerman’s teammate Tobias Brink finished fifth ahead of PWR Racing driver Axel Bengtsson and MA:GP driver Mattias Andersson.
Disaster struck title contender Oliver Söderström who was knocked out of qualifying by STCC newcomer Christian Skaar and will start the first two races from ninth position.
The second qualifying session saw Bäckman climb to the top of the timing sheets on his final attempt to score a valuable five championship points, moving from fifth to second in the standings to trail points leader Dahlgren by 25.
Bengtsson impressed with the second-fastest time, despite having never raced at Anderstorp and missing nearly every practice session due to technical issues.
Nerman was third fastest in Q2 while a disappointed Dahlgren was fourth fastest, losing a lot of time in one of the sectors, saying after the session he was lost on the reason behind it.
Brink and Andersson complete the top six.
The first race of the weekend starts at 11:15 a.m. CEST.
