Make sure to check your car before going on a road trip
(WSIL) — The vacation is meant to be a fun getaway for families and friends, but nothing holds back a trip faster than a car trouble.
âYou don’t want to have an outage and end up having road service and taking time out on your trip,â said Shawn Hughes, director of interstate service operations at Vernell.
Fortunately, there are a few common issues you can check out to make sure your road trip is going smoothly.
“We like to tell them to make sure their tires are all properly ventilated, to make sure their fluids are topped up, their wipers are in good condition, and that they’ve gone through some sort of inspection in the past. to make sure their belts are good and stuff like that, âHughes said.
It’s also a good idea to recheck the wiper fluid, check your dipstick, and have your battery tested before you leave your home.
And don’t forget your air conditioner.
âAs the temperatures start to rise, people will be running their air conditioners and the like, which puts extra strain on the engine. You have to make sure that the belts are in good condition and that service has been done and all along those lines, âsays Hughes.
But there are some telltale signs you can look out for and make sure that the only thing you need to worry about is having fun.
âIf you hear squeaks, noises, smells or anything like that,â Hughes said.
