Mariners begin three-game road trip against Webber

BRUNSWICK, Ga.- The Coastal Georgia volleyball team (7-6, (0-1)) begins its three-game road trip on Wednesday, Sept. 21 against Webber International (10-5, (0-1)) at 7 p.m.
The Mariners and Warriors lost their first game of the Sun Conference season 3-1 on Saturday, September 17.
Webber International’s top scorer is outside hitter Bailey Sikkema who leads the team with 114 kills. However, the Warriors are a balanced team, as they have seven players with at least 70 points on the season which ranks second in the conference behind Keiser.
The Warriors also rank second in the conference in hitting percentage and opponent hitting percentage, showing that they perform well on both sides of the net.
Coastal Georgia will be looking to kick off this portion of the road games with a win. The Mariners have won the last eight meetings against the Warriors and are 12-6 against them.
QUICK KEYS FOR SAILORS:
- Rookie Paula Perez Rosales has done it all for the Mariners this season. She leads the team in kills per set, serving aces and points per set and is second on the team in recoveries per set and third on the team in total blocks.
- Sydney Martin continues to play at a high level, leading the team in shot percentage, blocks and total points.
- Rebecca Brown and Breanna Tanton have been good doubles at the assist position this season with averages of 4.65 and 3.59 assists per set, respectively.
- Natalia Willhelm Heguaburu came to Coastal Georgia as a middle blocker and outside hitter. She has since taken on the libero role and is thriving. She leads the team by a wide margin in digs per set and is also sixth in the conference in that category.
