Matt Campbell secures Kelly Grove Racing seat for Bathurst

Matt Campbell will compete in the season-ending Bathurst 1000 after being called up to the Kelly Grove Racing team.
Campbell will team up with Andre Heimgartner for what will be his third attempt at the event, having finished fourth alongside Shane van Gisbergen in a Holden Triple Eight in 2017. His debut came a year earlier alongside Todd Kelly . , the duo having failed to finish.
The 26-year-old will replace Earl Bamber, who was due to partner with Heimgartner before revisions to the Supercars schedule left him with a conflicting commitment elsewhere.
“Once it was confirmed that Earl could not compete in the event due to the conflict in his racing schedule, it was vital that we find someone of very high caliber to replace him, and we know that we have that in Matt Campbell, ”said the teammate. -Owner Stephen Grove said. “We are all very excited to see him come back and run with us at the Bathurst 1000.
“It’s extremely disappointing [for Bamber] because I know how good Earl is for having run with him before and seeing him run firsthand. There’s no doubt we’ll be working with Earl to get him back next year, hopefully, and beyond, he’s a really good talent. We’ll definitely bring it back if all the dates line up for 2022, no doubt. “
