Maxwell prepares for racing excellence – Harrogate Informer

Grade 10 student Maxwell Dodds is on track to race success after joining the prestigious Ginetta Junior Motorsport Championship and competing in televised races.
Maxwell, now in grade 10, has been racing since the age of four, first on go-karts, then moved through motorsport classes to a new G40 Junior race car which he picked up earlier this year.
Maxwell spent half the quarter testing his new car at speeds of up to 120 mph at Donington Park circuit in Leicestershire and Knockhill racing circuit in Scotland ahead of his second championship race on June 12-13 on the Snetterton circuit in Norfolk.
Max said:
I enjoyed the shift from karting to cars. There are a few different aspects, like the gears, but it didn’t take long for me to get used to them. Reaching speeds of 200 km / h really doesn’t feel fast after years of racing karts that have huge power-to-weight ratios. You get used to speed quickly and feel really slow. It’s about being aware of your performance and capabilities.
After spending much of the past five years traveling Europe in a karting career that included one of its proudest moments – representing the UK in the FIA ââCIA Karting World Championship – Maxwell loves compete as a UK based driver in Assetto Motorsport. team.
Harrogate Grammar School principal Neil Renton said:
I greatly admire Max’s commitment to achieving excellence, it takes hard work and sacrifice to focus on sport at such an elite level. Max manages to fit into all of his school work and takes his responsibilities very seriously. We are very proud of him and wish him every success.
Maxwell’s next race is Rounds 6, 7 and 8 for the Ginetta Junior Championship at Brands Hatch on June 26/27 – a power series for GTs, touring cars and Formula 1 racing.
