NSCDC deploys 1,000 officers for Eld-el-Kabir in Akwa Ibom
The Nigerian Civil Defense and Security Corps, Akwa Ibom State Command, said it has deployed 1,000 armed and regular men for a smooth celebration of Eld al-Kabir in the state.
The federal government announced national holidays on Tuesday and Wednesday next week to mark the celebration.
A statement from the command’s public relations officer Ukeme Umana on Saturday in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom state, said the officers had been deployed to strategic locations, including recreation centers, mosques and essential national and state assets.
According to the statement, Commander Abidemi Majekodunmi, while instructing officers to be proactive in their duties, called on the public to report suspicious movements of people to security agencies before, during and after the holiday season.
“Nigeria Civil Defense and Security Corps, Akwa Ibom State Command, has deployed 1,000 armed and regular personnel to end a smooth celebration of Eld-El-Kabir around certain locations strategic such as recreation centers, mosque, critical and national assets, etc. state.
“Commander Abidemi Majekodunmi ordered the staff to be proactive in their duties. The general public must be vigilant and report any suspicious movement to security agencies.
“The command wishes all Muslim Ummahs a wonderful celebration of id-Kabir,” part of the statement read.
