NSCDC deploys 1,300 people to ensure smooth Eid al-Kabir in Bayelsa – SoundiataPost
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) said it has deployed 1,300 officers and men to ensure a smooth Eid al-Kabir in Bayelsa.
The NSCDC commander in Bayelsa, Ms. Christiana Abiakam-Omanu, told the Nigeria News Agency (NAN) on Tuesday that the enhanced deployment followed a directive from the NSCDC commander general, Dr. Ahmed Audi.
She explained that the NSCDC remains committed to ensuring adequate security and protection of critical national assets and infrastructure in the state during the holiday season and beyond.
The commander said that the NSCDC leadership has called on all area commanders and state commanders across the country to improve operations to create a safe atmosphere for the festivities.
She said that Bayelsa’s NSCDC had therefore deployed more personnel to strategic locations in the state to prevent vandalism or attacks on all critical assets and infrastructure, as well as places of worship, car parks, recreation centers and flash points.
According to her, Bayelsa’s NSCDC provides 24-hour surveillance in addition to routine patrols to prevent crime and keep the state safe.
The commander noted that the officers and men of the NSCDC were in vigilant mode during the holiday season and would maintain status at all times.
She also said that this effort will help rid the state of criminals and other criminal elements who may be hostile to the state’s economic growth and development.
She urged the public to support security agencies by providing useful information on any suspicious person or group.
The commander assured the Muslims of a safe and happy celebration.
