Popular ride reopens after renovation at Magic Kingdom
UPDATE February 19 – Big Thunder Mountain reopened on schedule after its annual renovation. There don’t appear to be any obvious changes or upgrades to the ride, so we’re guessing the renovation focused on the necessary upkeep of the ride system.
It is usual during the winter months to see many attractions closing for routine maintenance. We just saw Splash Mountain reopen at the Magic Kingdom after almost a month of renovations.
The Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is now closed for routine maintenance and is scheduled to reopen on Saturday, February 19, 2022. Visitors likely won’t even notice any changes to this iconic attraction, but essential work has reportedly been completed. Be sure to check the official schedule if you plan to visit the Magic Kingdom on the weekend as the schedule may change.
We are still awaiting news on the reopening of Walt Disney World Railroad at Magic Kingdom. This very popular attraction was closed in early 2019 due to the construction of the upcoming TRON Lightcycle/Run. With work nearly complete on TRON Lightcycle, we hope to see a reopening very soon for Walt Disney World Railroad.
