Super2 Series driver and now race winner Jaylyn Robotham will compete in the 2022 6 Hours of Bathurst in a Toyota 86 entered by BPRO.

Robotham, 19, will race alongside experienced heads Brett Parrish and Mitch Wooler over the Easter long weekend, riding a wave of confidence since his maiden Super2 win at Sydney Motorsport Park.

Sitting fourth in the opening race of the Super2 season, Robotham took advantage of a puncture from race leader Tyler Everingham by winning the ensuing skirmish for first place, winning in spectacular fashion.

The challenge of a Toyota 86 at Mount Panorama will not phase Robotham, who has previously raced at the front of Australia’s Toyota 86 Racing Series.

He also finished second in the Toyota 86 New Zealand Championship.

“Any time you get to race in Bathurst it’s been great, I can’t wait to get to the 6 o’clock and line up alongside Brett and Mitch,” Robotham said.

“Obviously, coming back from Sydney Motorsport Park with a great result in Super2, I just want to get back behind the wheel as soon as possible.

“It’s been a while since I’ve raced a Toyota 86, but they’re great fun to drive, especially around Bathurst.

“Brett and his team always run a strong team, we’ve had great results in the past, so bring on Easter!”

Parrish has a long history in motorsport, having competed in Hyundai Excels since the class’ very first race at Lakeside Raceway in 2010.

Since then, Parrish has won four championships in the Queensland-based Track Attack series, claiming 40 race victories.

Parrish and Robotham have regularly partnered with Excel endurance racing in the past, achieving success in events such as the 2019 175km race at Queensland Raceway.

“I’m really proud of how it all came together; the group together in the team, the drivers and the car are all looking good,” said Parrish.

“Racing at Bathurst is always a highlight for anyone in Australian motorsport, but racing in an event like the 6 Hours is just something else.

“The prospect of sharing the track with so many great drivers is really exciting.

“From our side, Jay’s Super2 win in Sydney was great to see, he’s always been fast in everything he’s raced so it wasn’t really a surprise, and his knowledge of the car and the the Bathurst trail will be invaluable.

“Mitch will be quick too, he’s been super impressive in all of our tests so far.

“We all feel very comfortable in the Toyota 86, it’s clearly the car to have in Class D, although I suspect there will be very strong competition when we get to The Mountain.”

Wooller’s racing CV includes victories in the Queensland Touring Car Championship Class A2 in a BMW M3, as well as Mount Panorama experience in an Excel.

The 2022 6 Hours of Bathurst will run from April 15-17.
