Selected: Hellblind’s Hitch

Hellblind, the new band consisting of Mark Clayden (Pitchshifter) and Paul Fletcher (Romeo Must Die), have just released their first EP, “A Plague On All Your Houses”, and to celebrate, we asked vocalist Adam Frakes- Sime to tell us about the song “Hitched”. Here is the story :
The topic of Hitched is not much like anything I would usually write. There is no self-analysis and I am not commenting on a specific social situation. The majority of the song also has a much slower tempo than I would usually be comfortable with, which in hindsight may have caused me to approach it slightly differently than normal.
A close friend of mine was going through a horrible time with his partner and it got me thinking about how marriage can be a terrible life sentence given the slightest error in character judgment at the start of the relationship. The resentment accumulated over the years can poison the hearts of both parties, so that life revolves around resentment and manhood.
The line from the song that best sums up what I was trying to convey is “we run to depths that will surely make each other drown.” I’m happy to say that my friend got out of the relationship before bitterness and hatred consumed him.
To hear is to believe. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen and watch for yourself below and learn more about the band and their new EP here
