Swindon Town signs Connal Trueman on emergency loan from Birmingham City

SWINDON Town has signed Birmingham City goalkeeper Connal Trueman on a seven-day emergency loan, the club have confirmed.

After a knee injury to Jo Jo Wollacott which ruled out the Bristol City scorer from last Saturday’s home game against Northampton Town, 19-year-old Archie Matthews was forced to make his 11th hour debut as Swindon beat the Cobblers 2-1.

But with no sign of a near-term return for Wollacott, John Sheridan’s side were forced to search for the club’s sixth goalkeeper of the season before a difficult trip to Sunderland on Tuesday night.

Trueman, who previously faced Town with AFC Wimbledon in the first half of the season, is set to make his Swindon debut at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday night.
