The Adult Easter Egg Hunt is sold out; adult hay ride scheduled for May

(WJET/WFXP/YourErie.com) — On Saturday, April 9, Burch Farms in the Northeast is hosting its first adults-only Easter egg hunt.

“We try to offer something for adults,” said Timothy Burch, owner of Burch Farms.

Children are always the stars of Easter. This year will also mark the 17and year of hosting an Easter egg hunt for children (Saturday April 16). Last year, Burch Farms welcomed 684 children during its annual hunt. And the comments from the adults were clear: “They say, ‘It’s a great event, but how about doing something just for us adults, without all those kids? recalls Burch.

During the Adults Only Hunt, several Easter Eggs will be hidden in the Burch Farms Orchard. Eggs might have coupons for a candy bar, a free glass of wine, maybe a free full bottle of wine, a wine slush, or a ball of pepperoni and cheese freshly made from their bakery.

Tickets for the event sold out in 13 days, Burch said.

“The phone rings every day and people always want tickets,” Burch said. “I have already implemented the plans the way I want to do it this year. We stick to 100 people.

Don’t lose hope, though, as Burch said the farm plans to continue the adult festivities next month. Burch Farms plans to hold an Apple Blossom Celebration.

“There won’t be any Easter eggs, but I’ll take them for a hay ride to the orchard where we’ll have wine tasting, then back down where there’ll be a buffet and country music,” Burch said. “Normally the apples are then in full bloom, so I hope it will be a breathtaking sight for all my guests that evening.”

The Apple Blossom Celebration will take place on Saturday, May 14.

The Burch family have owned the farm for several generations – Timothy Burch is the sixth generation to own the farm. His son is also on the farm, marking the seventh generation, and his son has a child of his own, meaning a potential eighth generation of Burch farmers.

“It’s my livelihood. It’s my way of life. People crave activity these days, especially outdoor activities, and they love coming to the country,” Burch said. “There’s a tendency for people to come to facilities like mine.”
