World Series of Poker Kickoff – Vaccination Status …
There probably isn’t a living poker player who isn’t happy to see the World Series of Poker start for the first time in over two years. We all know it’s not exactly back to normal, but at least the option is there for most players.
Judging from the stages at the Rio Convention Center, this will be a very busy festival and one that many will be determined to enjoy no matter what.
To do work
Of course, with the vaccines mandate, there is an extra layer of bureaucracy to deal with as organizers fight to make sure all players comply. As you might expect, it didn’t exactly go as planned, but the job has so far been done in the end.
Although the situation was made clear day to day in the poker media, one player was reportedly shocked to find out he had to be vaccinated to play and then quickly left the building.
To streamline status checking, players based in the US have been encouraged to use the CLEAR Health Pass system. Vaccination status can be confirmed using the smartphone app before arriving at the site, saving a lot of time when registering for events.
As good a idea as it is, it turns out that many gamers missed the fact that just uploading their documents wasn’t enough; they must also actively verify them. Those who missed this step ended up in the Belize Room which was the hub for foreigners and those who did not have the application to register.
There was also an incident for some of those who used the app correctly. The day before the start of the WSOP, the connection between the Belize Room and the CLEAR Health Pass system server failed, leaving many disappointed players facing a comeback the next day.
Overall, first impressions are good. The organizers are doing everything to ensure the smooth running of the biggest live poker festival on the calendar. Players who have already arrived report that the atmosphere is electric. Look forward to what we hope will be a great series.
